This recipe is perfect to make for friends and family, as it is a great dish to share around a table. It’s quick to prepare and pretty straightforward to make, and is an octopus recipe even kids may enjoy.

And of course, every Spanish recipe made with octopus has great taste and flavors, and this recipe is no exception.

How to do the grilled octopus recipe with mashed potatoes

Ingredients

2 cooked octopus tentacles
Extra virgin olive oil
Salt
Fresh parsley
For the garlic:
100 ml of extra virgin olive oil (about .5 cups)
4-5 garlic cloves
2 tablespoons of sweet paprika
For the mashed potatoes:
4-5 medium potatoes
20g butter (about ¼ cup)
Salt
Pepper

The preparation

  1. Cook the potatoes in their skins for 30 minutes. Peel hot and mash with a fork.
  2. Add the butter, a little olive oil, salt and pepper and mix well.
  3. Grill or cook the octopus on all sides in a pan or grill with very hot olive oil until golden brown.
  4. For the garlic sauce: peel the garlic cloves and cut them into slices. Put the olive oil in a saucepan over low heat and add the garlic. Cook until the garlic is golden brown, then remove and set aside.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the paprika. The heat of the oil is enough to achieve the maximum aroma and flavor of the paprika.
Warning:  if left on the fire the paprika will burn and make the preparation bitter, so add the paprika only away from the heat source.
  6. Accompany the octopus with the mashed potatoes and sprinkle on the garlic sauce.

For the mashed potatoes:

4-5 medium potatoes
20g butter
Salt
Pepper
